Cold Heat's Freestyle Glue Gun

Hot, hot, hot!

It is surprising how long it has taken a company to produce a cordless glue gun that is truly worthy of daily use. Thanks to Cold Heat there is now the Freestyle Glue Gun, which delivers the best features of other glue guns on the market with the added benefit of fast-heating full cordless mobility. Countless crafters and do-it-yourselfers have tangled themselves in cords while attempting to apply a dot of hot glue at just the perfect angle. Having to unravel the cord in the middle of a project is tiresome and increases the odds of gluing a finger. Almost as frustrating has been waiting for a "normal" cordless glue gun to heat up or recharge. Enter the Freestyle Glue Gun with its super-efficient heating element, microchip controller, long lasting rechargeable battery, and ever-so practical design.

The Freestyle is lightweight and compact enough for even the smallest crafter's hands. It sports a Project Light with two intensity levels (a low intensity level, for when high intensity is not needed, to help conserve battery power). The unique heating system heats up in only a minute on a full battery charge, supplying a steady flow of glue when the easy trigger is pressed. The tip cools down quickly after being turned off, making this an ideal pack-and-go tool for traveling. There is even a Powersave mode to conserve battery power. The Freestyle utilizes Cold Heat's light system: amber light is Powersave (the Project Light will still be on), red light for Low Battery, red light flashing when the battery must be recharged. But with a battery that lasts over an hour, this glue gun will last for most craft projects.

This glue gun has been getting great reviews, from popular blogs (Shiny Shiny, Synthstuff) to magazines (Rainy Day) and it already has an entry in Wikipedia. In actual use, the Cold Heat Freestyle Glue Gun delivers as exactly as promised. A sample room of crafters immediately made the following observations: "It's cordless! It's light! It HAS a light! It really does heat up fast!" Even when the battery was low it only took a couple of minutes to heat up. The almost effortless trigger left hands and fingers limber enough to move on to other crafty endeavors even after extended use.

The built-in stand provided superior balance so it was easy to quickly set the gun down while re-arranging a project. The stand locks into place, is well balanced, and also has an anti-slide rubber "gripper". The only time the gun toppled was when it was being set down on an uneven work surface. While a Project Light is always handy, it was particularly valuable when a just little spot needed some reinforcing glue and the tip had to be inserted into a small space. The Freestyle lived up to its advertising and everyone wanted one!

This glue gun is consistently getting a two thumbs-up from crafters and DIYs of all kinds. The lightweight cordless design, long battery life, stable built-in gun rest, quick heat-up and cool-down make this little glue gun worthy of a basic craft or household tool kit. Let's hope Cold Heat's next tool is a small cordless heat embosser!
